I heard that running older versions of snes9xgx makes games like Yoshi's Island and Gradius III run smoother. Is this true? Gradius 3 I'm pretty sure always had horrible slowdown at times, even on the cart.

Besides, the older versions had sound skipping problems that have since been (from what I can tell) completely fixed.
