DSI error when extracting Homebrew Browser images? New SD card, HBC + apps on it work (no replies)

Hi

I have recently installed the HBC using letterbomb.

Everything is going great. I installed the app packs too and they work fine.

I would like to get the most from homebrew I can, and I saw the Homebrew Browser @ [wiibrew.org], so I downloaded it and followed the instructions to install it.

Following the instructions I was able to get the text screen to load which gave me the option to download images, which it recommends, and I downloaded them but halfway through extracting them it gives me a DSI error.

I have read this may be as a result of a corruption or problem with the SD card, but my Sandisk 2GB SD card was literally bought yesterday, it runs the homebrew channel fine and the other app pack I installed.

How can I remedy this? Please tell me I do not have to go through everything I did all over!

Creating DOSBox Wii Batch Files with Automatic Keymapping (1 reply)

I've already postet this question in the Wiki which, in retrospect, might have been the wrong place so i hope you guys can help me out.

My question/problem revolves in general around creating DOSBox Wii batch files, specifically if automatic key mapping is possible.

I've already successfully used the keymapper to assign keyboard keys to the wiimote which worked flawlessly and i've created batch files to start some old dos games which i had lying around. Since Dos games rarely use the same keyboard keys i had to use the keymapper every time i ran a different Dos game to assign its various buttons. For example, if you want to run "a certain game with a guy and his pogostick" you'd have to assign the arrow keys (movement), ctrl (jump) and alt (use pogo stick) to the wiimote. So my question is:

Is it possible to create Dos-game-specific batch files in which the keyboard keys are automatically assigned to the chosen wiimote buttons with some sort of command and if yes, how would said batch file have to look like?

To reuse the example above, let's say i want to let the batch file automatically assign the movement keys to an analog stick, ctrl to wiimote's 1 and alt to wiimote's 2...
I googled the hell out of this topic but couldn't find a solution or tutorial. I also read the Dosbox Wii readme (especially chapter 7) several times but couldn't quite figure it out. Thanks for reading and maybe replying...

Wii64 - Homescreen opens, then nothing (2 replies)

So I've downloaded Wii64 both from HBC and from my imac and followed instructions carefully on how to properly put it on an SD card. For whatever reason, when I click on Wii64 from the HBC load page, it takes me to the main menu, but my controller stops working completely. I have tried with just the wiimote, wiimote and classic controller pro, and have also tried unplugging the classic remote and plugging it back in. The only thing I can do is hold down the power button on the controller and reboot the wii. It literally just gets stuck there every time.

I tried downloading the most downloaded roms from various sites, but they never show up on the Wii64 main screen. It always tells me no roms uploaded. This seems to be a problem for some other people as well, but I've never found a solution.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I need some nostalgia in my life!!! Gracias,

Homebrew apps crash/lockup/black screen and other weirdness. (no replies)

Hi folks. I just got a hand-me-down Wii for Christmas, and I wanted to see what this thing can do.

I HackMii/Letterbombed without a problem, started getting apps loaded on my SD card, and things seemed to be doing well with trying out WiiEarth, MC, and a few others.

The problems started when I wanted to try the WiiDoom. If I plugged in my nunchuck attachment, the homebrew page starts flipping the page back and forth and clicking random buttons. The nunchuck seems to work just fine on the Wii Sports boxing game, so I don't know what's going on there.

When I did get into WiiDoom, it worked once but didn't recognize the nunchuck at all, and upon reloading it gave me "Exception DSI Occurred" and sets of random numbers. I figured the nunchuck had done something weird to it and wrote it off. I tried the Heretic/Hexen ports and they gave me "W_InitMultipleFiles: No files found. I thought it was just these ported games that were going to give me problems, but no.

I installed a few other games from the Homebrew Browser list, and they lockup and start a high-pitched squealing sound or blank screen before dumping me back to the HBC.

I tried getting into the BootMii to backup my Wii nand just in case of something bad, and it locked up on the first screen with the 4 icons. (mine is the newer software version that's supposed to work, not the older boot2) No extra controlers or the front Wii buttons did anything.

I then got into the WiiXplorer and that seemed to be working fine, started up an FTP server, transfered some stuff, and went back to HBC. When I tried going back into WiiXplorer later, it black screened and locked up the Wii. Restarting the Wii and reloading, uninstalling/reinstalling WiiXplorer, and trying to download through the Homebrew Browser, nothing works on it anymore.

I'm starting to worry with so much stuff that should work not, and stuff that was working not working anymore. Am I doing something wrong? Is there any way to fix this stuff? Please help.

Specs:
Wii 4.3U
HBC v1.1.2
newest versions of all apps as of 1/7/2013
Nothing is plugged into the USB ports
Only one Wiimote used
Only the nunchuck extension tried (briefly)

VBAGX Save Function Corrupted (no replies)

Hi. I have a Wii with HBC that runs everything great, including, up until a few days ago, VBAGX. I know where files go for every program, the problem I'm having isn't related to that, and VBAGX has a directory editor anyway so that wouldn't be a problem. What's happened is my saves are no longer recognized because I have somehow got a dead string of code attached to the save function within VBAGX on the Wii itself. I think it's on the Wii itself because I also erased VBAGX from my SD card, then put a fresh program on, and got the same result. I've changed the directories, renamed the save function under different names, deleted the program and re-installed it, but every time after the last / mark a string of coding pops up. So what I'm reading, under the VBAGX Settings Menu on the keyboard layout where you assign directories, goes like this: vbagx/saves/ #%@$$#@^^&--ierow0.
Not those exact symbols, but I can't type the kind of gibberish it's giving me.
My questions are can I completely wipe VBAGX off my Wii so I can re-install it to full working order? Would I have to remove the HBC to do this? Would a new VBAGX release solve this? Or would an old VBAGX solve it? (But I can't find any older downloads). Is there any way I'm wrong and the problem isn't stuck on the Wii?
Thanks a lot.

Using an original Zapper lightgun with FCE Ultra GX (5 replies)

Hey guys, I was hoping you could help. I have a CRT TV that my NES and Wii are hooked up to. I play all my old NES zapper games on the TV and they work great.

I was hoping to plug the Zapper into the Gamecube port of my Wii (using an adapter) and play some of the rarer NES zapper roms on FCE Ultra GX. I own this adapter and I couldn't get it to work:

I tried setting the Gamecube port the Zapper was plugged in to controller 1 and 2, but nothing would happen on either one. Also, the screen would not flash when I pulled the trigger, like with my original NES. For the record, I tested the adapter with an original NES controller and that seems to work fine.

I've also found the following adapters, but do not own them:

Has anyone else tried to do this? Should I just try one of the other adapters? I'd really appreciate some help.

Thanks!

WiiSX crashing when choosing 'Play game' (no replies)

If anyone can help, please reply. I will give some details.

I just installed (I presume) the latest version of WiiSX to relive some childhood memories and all that, I downloaded Tenchu 2, it doesn't work and just crashes the console when I choose 'Play Game'. I'm unsure what version of homebrew I have too -_- I installed it about a year ago following some YouTube tutorial. Can anyone help???

EDIT: Now I got it working for like 5 seconds, it goes through the PS1 startup screen w/noise then crashes :( I managed this by changing the settings. I used select bios for USB and then booted through bios, but now I cant get past the damn PS1 startup, still need help lol
