Re: -- Wii System Update 4.2 Mega Topic --

Hi guys,

I haven't been able to find much info about this problem on the 'net... can't find anything in this thread either. (I hope!)

I recently upgraded to System Menu 4.2E. Soon after the install, I experienced a strange issue when attempting to load retail games - I would have to wait ~10 seconds before clicking 'Start' on the Disc Channel, otherwise the Wii would restart after loading. Strangely, this has resolved itself.

However, my homebrew no longer works. HBC was not deleted, but it will not load any apps. Some will hang during the 'Loading' screen, or will hang with a black screen. All the official Nintendo products work fine - BBC iPlayer, retail games, World of Goo...

I have tried removing HBC and re-installing with Bannerbomb v2. This failed with the same issue. I have never installed BootMii. I have a late-2008 model Wii.

Any help getting my NetHack to work again is appreciated. Thanks in advance,
Lucas Jones.

Inside the box was a little paper in non-english writing and then "SOFTCHIP".
She played 2 games, went to the wii shop and updated it to 4.2 firmware.
It now says "003 unauthorized use..." :(

After some research on the net to understand a little more about the wii (never used one before), I can tell you that;

It will not get past that error (black screen, white 003 error)
I cannot get into HBC if it is installed...
It seems as though it is a Korean console (serial starting with LKM)
I tried the 'hold reset while powering on' and it doesn't do anything
I used a GC controller, pressing all 4 directional buttons and it bypasses the error but then displays a black screen with "4.2(USA)" on the bottom right corner.

Apparently, you can change the title ids to dvdx and the HBC to fix this. No idea how this could be achieved.
I have also heard this is un-fixable until a 4.3 game comes out.

What can I try to get it to load again? If you do have any solutions please explain in detail as you are speaking to someone new at touching a Wii.

Thanks in advance!

Dave
