So I got an NTSC Wii because of reasons like 60 hz VC games and Project M. And an NTSC Wii doesn't support SCART RGB cable picture meaning you're stuck with composite (or composhit as it's often more accurately called). So with help from AnyRegion Changer I changed the video output to PAL. And while this enables solid RGB picture. It comes at a brutal cost. Which is that every single Virtual Console game goes 50hz and other Wii games stutter and can't keep a still image.

So I need help. Is there a way to get the best of both worlds?

Priiloader / Bootmii in terms of Risk (no replies)

Hello. I am a Korean Wii user and I want to unlock my Wii's region due to not many games are released in Korea.
I have got homebrew channel installed long time ago (by my father. so I don't know much about hacking wii) and now I want to install Priiloader for region free gameplay (I searched the internet and it sounded like Priiloader can unlock regional restrictions), but I'm worried of bricking my Wii while attempting to install Priiloader.('Priiloader bricked my Wii' is in the Google suggestion...)

My father forgot all about Wii, and I have to het information about what state my Wii is in right now by the internet.

Question 1. If the bootmii doesn't show up as I power the console and I can launch it from homebrew channel, it means it is installed as an IOS, right?

Question 2. If my Wii is newer model and doesn't have a boot2 exploit, can I still backup and restore my wii with bootmii IOS when it is bricked while installing Priiloader?

Question 3. Can it be considered dangerous to install Priiloader on my Wii after backup and preparing for restore?

Question 4. Can I play other region Wii&GC discs and install other region channels on my Wii with Priiloader? (If there is safer way than Priiloader to install channels, please tell me.)

Sorry for my bad English...
Problems with Homebrew Channel and Wii itself (3 replies)

Hello,
I'm having some weird problems with Homebrew Channel (further on referred as simply HC).
1. When I start HC with my SD card and USB drive plugged in, it doesn't show any applications on the list. They reappear as soon as I disconnect my USB drive, then I can plug it in again and everything works. All the HC apps are located on my SD card. The problem doesn't appear when starting HC without connecting the drive but replugging it each and every time has gotten quite annoying after some time.
2. Occasionally (like 10% chance) when launching something (a game from optical drive, any channel, an app from HC or even HC itself), the console will simply freeze on a black screen.
Trouble with Channel Installer (no replies)

I've been attempting to use the Channel Installer to put WiiMC on my Menu screen but have been getting an error message. The installer initializes, the tells me that it is unable to obtain NAND access and cannot continue. Originally, I had moved the NAND file to my PC for backup purposes. After this message I moved it back to the root of my SD card, but I'm still recieving the error message. Is there something simple I'm missing, like an incorrect location for the NAND file? Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you!

I see all the video tutorials say you need the private folder on your sd card. When I download smash stack I get a folder called wii. (1 reply)

So i created a theme for version 4.3u and i have that version installed on my wii. I forget to put in the image files, though, so now when i start up the wii i get a health screen that looks just like static, and when i press A to get to the wii menu, it's just a black screen. My wii is NOT bricked, but i want to know if there is a possible way to restore its original screen. Does anyone know?

Question about "virginizing" Wii (4 replies)

Hi everybody, thanks so much in advance for your time,

This might be a bit of a long-winded question, but I just want to explain in as much detail as I possibly can about what I did and to see if I went about the best way of doing it.

A few years ago I had softmodded my 4.3U Wii so I could inject a few VC games through WAD Manager. I did this because I had just bought a new Wii, as my old one had passed on and I lost quite a few virtual console games that I had accumulated on it over the years. If I recall correctly, I had originally just installed the HBC and BootMii via Letterbomb (since I believe it was the only way to do it on System Menu 4.3U), and then installed the WAD Manager and a few VC WADs on to my system.

Fast forward to a few days ago. I recently decided I wanted to make my Wii as "factory new" as possible - I don't plan on selling it or sending it to Nintendo or anything, I just did this to lift a weight off my own conscience. I had originally thought this would be a fairly simple task, but I ended up spending the next day or so painstakingly relearning what I knew about Wii Homebrew and finding the best method I could to "virginize" my system.

Sooo... I started out by deleting all unofficial channels (except the HBC itself). All of them were just virtual console games I had injected with the WAD Manager. In hindsight, I probably should have used AnyTitle Deleter to do this job to completely remove any traces, but I'm hoping I solved that problem later (I'll explain below). After that came actually trying to get rid of as much Homebrew as possible.

I started out by uninstalling BootMii through launching the Hackmii Installer with Letterbomb. After that came deleting all the unoffical IOSes and whatnot, which I was not exactly sure of how to go about. I had read that updating your Wii to system menu 4.3 deleted all unofficial IOSes, so I figured this was my best bet without using a NAND formatter. Problem was, I was already on version 4.3, so there was no way I could update. To work around this, I installed DOPMii and followed a YouTube guide to downgrade my system to 4.1. After this was complete, I decided it was safe to bid farewell to the Homebrew Channel, and deleted it and it's contents via the data management on the Wii Menu. Finally, I (hopefully) removed all unofficial mods by updating the 4.1 system menu I had downgraded to with ModMii by installing the official Nintendo update and upgrading to 4.3.

After all that, I was pretty sure I had done all I could. I did run across one problem, as to celebrate completing this endeavor I decided to legitmately buy a game from the Wii Shop Channel that I had previously injected into the system with WAD Manager. Of course, when I tried to download the game, I got Error Code: 204036. I did a quick search on it and found it had to do with me previously installing the game I was now trying to buy and download with the WAD manager. Apparently deleting it through the Wii data management had still left traces of the "unofficial" game I had injected via the WAD Manager. I found out that formatting fixed the issue, so I did that, and I was able to download the game (after getting error code 204038, but that only indicated a connection problem apparently, which was relieving).

Anyway, here I am now, after going through the long journey to hopefully make my Wii as clean/virgin-like as possible. So all in all, I just wanted to maybe ask a few experts (since I am honestly a newbie at Wii modding, which is why I'm glad I'm done with it) if these methods I went through would have successfully cleaned my Wii. Would downgrading from 4.3 to 4.1 back to 4.3 again to have Nintendo's official patch delete any remnants of mods have worked? Did formatting the system remove ALL traces of past unoffical channels and/or WADs? I'd so immensely appreciate any insight to put my mind at ease.

I'm so very sorry for the long question, and if this is a stupid thing to ask, but I really just wanted the peace of mind. Again, any help/insight I get will be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks in advance!

Wii from circa 2009-early 2010 homebrew questions (no replies)

So i successfully installed homebrew and other various programs on my wii and then forgot about it when i had a bad break up with my ex fiance. I am now moved into a new place and u packed some of my stuff and remembered my homebrewed wii. I want to be able to utilize this wii and homebrew without having to do a system update, but i want to be able to do everything homebrew is capable of. Are the old versions of homebrew capable of the same things the new versions are? I dont want to brick my system by updating anything. Any suggestions?
