Frequent "The System Files Are Corrupted" Message (3 replies)

Hello. Friends of mine bought a used Wii a while back (at least over a year ago) and it had worked fine until recently when they started getting the message "The System Files Are Corrupted" when trying to access Netflix and many other areas. They asked if I could help fix it for them.

I have determined that it had been homebrewed using Return of the Jodi (there are a bunch of save files from the previous owner, one of which is Return of the Jodi).

They don't care about having Homebrew installed and would be fine with getting it back to factory defaults. I have done a lot of reading on the subject but am still unsure how to fix this. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

What happens when your Wii boots up? (How far it gets, does the Wii remote work, does the system freeze, go black, etc.)
The Wii boots up to the normal system menu. I can put in a disc and play a game. Attempting to access the system settings terminates in "The System Files Are Corrupted" so I can't put in my WiFi info. I took some video (cutting out the reboots):
[youtu.be]

On the rare times when I can actually enter the Wii Options without it giving me the error message, I can access the Data Management section but am unable to delete Save Data or Channels. It tries but then always returns with the message "The Data May Not Have Been Erased". Here is a video of that:
[youtu.be]

What Version of the System Menu is installed on the Wii?
4.1 USA

Is the Homebrew Channel, the Twilight Hack, Indiana Pwns, Yu-Gi-Oh Exploit, Smash Stack, Bathaxx, Return of the Jodi, or Eri HaKawai installed on the system?
Return of the Jodi

Does your Wii have a Drivechip?
No

Have you been able to boot homebrew in any way?
I get the "The System Files Are Corrupted" message when I press A on the Homebrew channel.

Do you have BootMii/boot2 or Preloader (Priiloader) installed?
Yes, I can get to priiloader by holding the reset button then powering on the Wii with the power button.

Some screenshots:

PriiLoader

System Menu Hacks:

Settings:

Check For Update:

Wii wont boot to the menu after BootMii (1 reply)

I believe my wii is fully bricked. But i'm not entirely sure if i installed BootMii to boot1 or boot2. It only goes to BootMii if i have the SD card in otherwise it goes straight to the press A screen

After a few years of wear and tear, my wii started acting weird lately. Suddenly very recently, the regular game launcher that comes with the system causes games to freeze after a short moment, some games just stop loading altogether, so i had to resort to using other launches primarily. After that my wii suddenly stopped booting after the BootMii menu comes up,which is weird because it was working just fine yesterday.

I backed up the nand thing on BootMii long ago, but i looked up restoring it and it sounds unreliable as hell. Should i go through with it? also will restoring it delete the saves for the games i played after backing it up.

Or should i just wait until it works again before i try anything? It's been a while since i was on the Wii scene,so i'm not entirely sure what i did back then, i think my wii is on 4.2u if that helps

Issue restoring nand backup (1 reply)

I finally made the move towards the Wii U this holiday season. I wanted to transfer our mii's over and discovered we could perform a transfer. I understood that the transfer would delete the mii's and content from the source wii. This was something I didn't want. I performed a nand backup of my wii before running the transfer tool, and hoped to restore that backup after transfering the data to the Wii U.

When I tried to run the nand restore, I was blocked with a message that indicated I didn't have bootmii installed on /boot2 and it was dangerous to proceed. I had bootmii installed on ios. I don't think I could proceed because of the Konami code and my lack of a game cube controller. I installed bootmii on boot2 and tried to restore again. The restore process was happy about the bootmii but complained that the nand backup was for a different wii, and is asking for the Konami code again.

At this point I'm uncertain if it's safe to restore from my backup. I don't know a whole lot about bootmii, nand backups, and keys. Would reinstalling bootmii to boot2 change the nand key and cause this type of warning? Is is safe to restore my backup by entering the Konami code?

I've grown a bit attached to my Wii, hence the time it's taken to move to the Wii U. I'd really rather not brick it, and it would be nice to be able to have all the save game and mii content before the transfer tool pillaged it.

Weird Brick Problem (1 reply)

I have a pretty old Wii that was new when I bought it and I modded it with the twilight hack years ago. Updated it to play off hd and all was good. But somewhere along the way my wads wouldn't play anymore. But everything else was good to go. I tried using DOP-Mii v16 to try and fix the problem but my friggin cat decided to go crazy chasing a laser light and unplugged my Wii while this was running. I can boot to my home screen, in fact everything looks normal. I can access settings and have a Wi-Fi connection. I updated to 4.3u using this connection since it happened.

Problems are as follows:
I can load the Homebrew Channel and see the bubbles but when I click on it reboots my wii. Same with wiiflow and the same with trying original games. I get no error messages. I booted my wii without a sd card inserted and the blue dvd light lights up and turns off. My original sd card has a nand.bin file and Priiloader-Forwader-Loader-DWFA.dol and a folder called bootmii. I tried to get Priiloader to load by using the reset button while powering up to no avail.

I get to the scam screen in both hackmii & letterbomb and never see the "press 1" screen. The remotes lose connection and I have to reboot.
Brickked Wii Help (1 reply)

So I know this place is basically dead, but I'm grasping at straws here. I've got the dreaded black screen full brick. This should not be a problem since I have BootMii installed on boot2, but my wife, in the course of trying to fix it while I was at work, accidently overwrote my NAND backup with the bricked NAND. So I'm sitting here with a Wii that can restore NANDs, needs a NAND restore, and I have no NAND to feed it. So...um...do I have any options left, or should I just sell this thing as a non-working source of spare parts?

In case you're wondering: No I don't have a SaveMii but if someone can tell me for sure that it will work I'll gladly buy one, yes I've tried replacing the bluetooth module, and as far as technical skills I'm a programmer, though game consoles aren't my usual target coding environment.

WIFI not working (1 reply)

Hey all,

Recently, I've been playing around with Homebrew related things. Which has all worked fine.
However, at some point in the last week my Wii started refusing to find ANY wireless access points.

It's not my router, as my WiiU and 3DS are both able to find my own access point among many others.

I don;t have a lot of knowledge behind how all this works. I understand the Wii OS, IOS and all that. But the hardware stuff...not so well.

Is there some sort of homebrew which tests the integrity of the Wiis internals? Or am i better off loading up Wii-Linux and testing with that?

Sorry if I've posted in the wrong place.

Update: With Linux-Wii, i can get the WiFi chip to communicate with my router (With WEP) currently having DHCP issues but will try to fix them.

Although, it seems odd to me that Debian has no issues finding and communicating with my router, yet the Wii System Menu can't find it at all....

Remotes won't work after game update with Homebrew installed (2 replies)

Hi!

None of my Wiimotes work after game-updating with Homebrew installed. I can't find information on this as related to Wii updates from games, including whether this is considered "bricked" or not, even after looking at this page: [forum.wiibrew.org]

This all happened when I went to play Wii Sports Resort. I had tried it before Homebrew to make sure the WiiMotes with MotionPlus built in were good, but this was the first time since Homebrew. (I just bought this used Wii for Christmas and updated it to 4.3U before installing Homebrew.) It asked about an update. I hesitated, but my daughter wanted to play so I did it. Her Wiimote started disconnecting after a few minutes and now I can't get any of the 4 Wiimotes (which were working before the update) will connect. They blink and then turn off. I wouldn't mind doing a full factory reset but I can't get to the menu system without the remotes, right?

I've tried powering off/on the Wii with no change. I've tried synching the remotes with the red buttons. No go. I've tried unplugging the Wii for a while as I read somewhere and that didn't work either.

I have since read about StartPatch to avoid this from happening again, but what can I do now? Thanks!

Wii 4.3E HBC+BootMii - "Format Wii System Memory" (1 reply)

Good morning everyone!

I have a big problem with my Wii. I think I scr*wed up big time (Or so I think)!

1. The Wii is starting - Healthscreen shows up
2. I press "A" the Wii Channel Menu shows up.
3. I can play all my games (DVDs) I can do updates and connect my wii to internet (WiFi).
4. There is even a "working" HBC on my Wii but every time I try to install something some new channels I get a Error "Exception (DSI) occurred " + a lot of numbers and letters.

No matter what I try the error occurs all over again :(.

First of all I will provide as much information as possible.

Wii Version 4.3E letterbomb softmod
Model-No. RLV-001(EUR)
White Wii
SD-Card 2 GB panasonic (used this one always to do softmods)

I have softmoded my Wii 4 times in my whole life. 4 times it was successful because I always do it step by step reading the guide, but this time something went wrong. So I hope you guys can help me out! I would appreciate it!

Two days ago my Wii was on version 4.3E working fine!( HBC - Priiloader - Boot Mii (also have a NAND Buckup) -USB CFG - NEO Gamma - WiiMC - etc) was installed everything was working fine!

someone did a "Format Wii System Memory" on my Wii. How this could happen I don't know but it happened.

So my Wii was resetet to 4.1E and every channel etc was gone. I thought this won't be a problem since I can easily do a 4.1 BannerBomb and get everything back again.

So I tried to softmod it again --> copied the content of my SD-Card to my PC --> formated my SD-Card to FAT32 copied the Bannerbomb soft into the SD-Card and followed the guide. But it didn't work I was able to get into HackMii - clicked to install HBC but every time got the error message "Exception (DSI) occurred". So I pressed the reset button for 4 seconds and got into the priiloader from here I could get into BootMii and used my NAND buckup to restored my Wii to 4.3 E with HBC + BootMii on it. The restore was successful I got everything back BUT every time I start the HBC and try to install a new channel it shows the
"Exception (DSI) occurred"

Stack dumpe
code dumpe

The same happens if I try to do the softmod on 4.3E with letterbomb always "Exception (DSI) occurred"

I don't know how to fix this :(.

sysCheck v2.1.0b19 by Double_A and R2-D2199, Nano
