I have an older wii that was upgraded to system menu 4.1u. I was successfully able to install HBC. I believe that DVDx installed properly, but I have not tested it. I installed bootmii as boot2 and IOS. During the install of bootmii as boot2, it put the necessary files on the SD card and said that it wrote to blocks 3 and 4. When I boot my wii, it goes straight to the system menu (normal screen) and does not seem to load bootmii. When I open the HBC and press the menu button, I have an option for bootmii. If I select bootmii, the screen goes blank, flickers and then goes back to HBC. What should I do to get bootmii working properly? Based on what you said above, can I swap the SD card once bootmii is running?
Or, does bootmii still need files off of the SD card to do things like NAND backup?

Both of these cards are listed on the compatibility list as working.

I also tried a Transcend micro SD 512MB card that I had lying around.
That worked !!!! :D
However, it is really too small to be useful. ;(

That is all of the SD cards that I have at the moment.

Is there a card that is known to work 100% of the time?
Maybe a Nintendo branded card?

I installed boot2 and rebooted the wii. (No lockups this time.)
On power-on, the drive flashes a few times and the safety warning comes on.

I installed boot2 and after writing to NAND and reporting Success, the wii locked up.
I rebooted the wii. After power on the disk try light flashes a few times (indicating that boot2 is installed).
However, it just goes to the saftey warning and then system menu.

The installer.log file show as being 3KB in size, but when I open it, it is empty.

ahhh.. Here enlies the problem. Remove the folder called bootmii on your sd card. Then reinstall bootmii boot2.

I installed boot2 again. Still does not seem to work.

One thing to mention is that the drive light does flash when booting. From what I understand, this means that bootmii is installed as boot2.

However, I don't have a GC controller, so I can't do anything with it.

I uninstalled ios and went to reinstall boot2 and got a system crash: Exception (DSI) Occurred! - Then it printed out a bunch of memory locations and registers.

I have not tried ios by iteself.
