Aujakev here,

I'm honestly surprised that this forum is still online, though it's not surprising it's not active. I have a lot of great memories here, I remember coming here almost everyday after school to see what the latest homebrew or hack was going on with the wii. l still had dial up so i had to download every homebrew app using a 56k connection, it took forever! Hell, i remember when Arikado was still just a moderator. Anyways, I still have my wii, It gathers dust now a days, but sometimes I play some Super Mario Galaxy. I doubt anyone is going to see this post but hey, I still love my wii and this forum is a blast from the past for me. Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi all,

I have modded my wii and installed a few emulators. I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on which controllers to use.

I have used the wii stick perfectly with NES games but is there any consensus on which to use with SNES and Genisis emulators?

I would prefer not to spend too much and would prefer them to be wireless.

I have an xbox 360 controller but I imagine this wont be compatible.

Just the day before, I was notified of an update on the HBC (to v1.1.0), and as soon as the download finished, my Wii restarted to HackMii screen and got stuck ever since, no "press 1 to continue" showed up at that point. I tried to boot to BootMii, but it showed nothing at all. All I saw was my Wii's disk slot flashing blue. Here's what happened:

Hi guys,

I'm new to this, but I've read quite a bunch of info on HB and stuff for about a month now.
I'm a Nintendo fan as far as I can remember but can't get enough time to play.

Ok, lets get to the point. My cousin was about to give me a previously modded wii (probably with only Homebrew, since he never opened that channel, someone did that to the wii). But, his nephew 'accidentally' do a factory setting on his wii, and he said that he could not play any games anymore (I assume he used to play pirated games before..).

Because of that, he wanted to give the console to me.

So, I wanted to ask you guys before I start doing anything to the console, can I proceed with the standard HB installation procedure, or I need to do some kind of diagnosis first? (Priiloader, Bootmii (iOS/boot2), etc2)

Sorry for this silly question. And I'm not into piracy. just want to have an added advantage for my future Wii.

I'm on vWii and tried every Gecko Code .txt downloader I found and all of them get errors of some sort. Aggario Hacks connects to the Internet but says I disconnected when I try to download codes, Code Downloader can try to download the codes but always gets an error after like a minute of downloading them, and Mega Code Downloader straight up dosen't load at all. I have a txtcodes folder at the root of my SD Card so I don't get why nothing works. Can someone help?

I've barley seen any news about Wii Homebrew apps since forever ago. Are people still developing apps for Wii Homebrew, or is the entirety of Wii Homebrew apps dead? I know CTGPR is still getting updates though.

I have a semi-bricked wii (games can be booted but settings cannot be entered) with region JP but before I overlooked and updated to v290 (PAL) with the semi-brick fix from here.

What should I do next to get it unbricked?

Some general info...

What happens when your Wii boots up? (How far it gets, does the Wii remote work, does the system freeze, go black, etc.)
Able to boot game but gets the opera error for JP in settings

What Version of the System Menu is installed on the Wii?
Could not enter system settings since I got it.

Is the Homebrew Channel, the Twilight Hack, Indiana Pwns, Yu-Gi-Oh Exploit, Smash Stack, Bathaxx, Return of the Jodi, or Eri HaKawai installed on the system?

Does your Wii have a Drivechip?
No idea

Have you been able to boot homebrew in any way? Nope, tried something called banner but didn't work

I have a North American (Canada) Wii and I want to try and play some of my imported NTSC-J games (both GC and Wii), but I can't really find a guide on how to install AnyRegion Changer. The wiki links to an information video about the application's capabilities, but not so much its installation or use. The reason why I'm cautious about this is that there's the possibility of bricking my Wii with this. The only guide that I can find for its installation is in French.

I'm wondering what is required to install the AnyRegion Changer on my Wii, I already have the Homebrew Channel installed, and how to change my system settings without having to worry about it bricking.

Would this setting allow for me to play my imported Japanese games?
Language Setting: Japanese
Console Area Setting: Japanese
Game Region Setting: Japanese
Console Video Mode: NTSC (unchanged)
Shop Country Code: 49 (unchanged, because I won't be using the shop)
System Menu Region: Japanese
And choosing to install the System Menu 3.2? Having the main Wii menu, or the entire console in Japanese wouldn't bother me because I can read it.

Ok, so I've tried downloading stuff from homebrew browser, and i'm using a USB drive to run homebrew. This works on my Wii at home but not at my in-laws on their Wii.
Everything runs until it tries to install the app. Then it freezes but the USB keeps flashing like it's trying to load.
I have a video on YouTube showing the issue in another context but I can't show it here due to the restrictions on here.

Wow, I cant believe that my account is still active! I havn't used it in nearly 7 years and it's still here. Says my post count is 0, but oh well.

Anyway, I think I need to update my wii. Got some new "stuff" and it doesn't work, at all. The problem is that since I haven't even used the Wii in years, my memory is shot. I'm reading through tutorials and I don't even recognize these terms anymore.

I remember from years ago there was a program I could run on the Wii that would scan the wii and dump a text file of all the software versions, etc etc. What's that called? I think I remember how to load it on the SD card. I probably need to get that before you guys can even tell me what to do to update the software (firmware?)

Treat me like a newb, I don't mind :)

Hi, first post. I just got the wiisx app to work and the first game downloaded was frogger 3d. The game runs smoothly. The only issue is it loops the music after 30 seconds. Help would be appreciated.

I'm playing MGS and once it says to insert Disc 2 I go to "Current ISO" and select disc 2 than "Resume Game" but nothing happens.

Hi all,
las week I decided to install the Homebrew Channel on my red wii (4.3, IOS58) in order to be able to use wiiMC (yes, I am way LATE on the matter, but I thought I could get a personal play and entertainement center for my son in his room through the wii). Everything worked fine and I also got the wiiMC official Channel installed (with some issues because wiimc.org server was down in the meantime and I could not get to read their FAQ
Since I was hoping to get it read movie DVD I plugged my external DVD burner/reader, but all I got was wiiMC crashing.
I googled it around and somehow I was convinced that I needed to install CIOS 202 or 222 with uloader in order to have this working (shame on google showing 6 years old threads and tutorials in the first three pages ;) ).
After that I realized that CIOS were not needed, since USB driver support should be achieved thought the libraries of homebrew channel and not through CIOS (despite showing that DVD playback was enabled with 202...).
I have tested a few times with different results: sometimes the wiiMC sees the driver and can load the disk, I get the menus and I can play the movie, sometimes it can only be done after I run uloader on the device, get it tell me it's a wrong disk (well, it's a MOVIE!), sometimes it just crashes and reboot in 8 seconds.
I know this is not a CIOS support (but I would love to get rid of them), so I am just asking about external DVD drive support: in the old wiiMC forums (now they are up again) there are infos about the library being developed through homebrew libogc and a test application for devices, but link to test application no longer work and thread is so old that it applies to version 1.11... Here I cannot find any info on external dvd drive in the past year, and I could fing nothing useful in the earlier posts...
I'm not sure if I should address my question to application forum since the wiiMC forums looks dead to me, so please bear with me if this is not the right place.

Hi,I hacked my Nintendo Wii a few years back and am going to sell it and would like to unhack it and then restore it to factory default.
It is not chipped and the Homebrew channel etc is all working fine but I don't have a clue as to how about going about unhacking it.....I can't even remember which hack I used.

so i accidentally went into the "up one folder" icon located above my games. i couldnt figure how to get back to the games i had downloaded and i think i did something to the settings because once i figured out the games were in the roms folder i couldnt load any of my saves and i couldnt start a new save.. i keep on getting an "error opening directory" message then it takes me to the save or load screen and when i try to load a saved game it says "no game saves found".. when i try to create a new save it says "error creating file".. ive never had this problem before and im wondering what i can do to at least create new game saves any help would be greatly appreciated

So I got an NTSC Wii because of reasons like 60 hz VC games and Project M. And an NTSC Wii doesn't support SCART RGB cable picture meaning you're stuck with composite (or composhit as it's often more accurately called). So with help from AnyRegion Changer I changed the video output to PAL. And while this enables solid RGB picture. It comes at a brutal cost. Which is that every single Virtual Console game goes 50hz and other Wii games stutter and can't keep a still image.

So I need help. Is there a way to get the best of both worlds?

so i have a 500gb hdd to use on my wii i attach to my wii and its asks to format so i do but when i attach back to pc to put my games on the pc cant read it and asks me to format it ?? iformat it to fat 32 so why cant i see hdd on my pc after the wii formats it ???

Hello. I am a new Homebrew user, and the only reason I pretty much got a Wii in 2016 was to play my favorite game of all time, Mario Kart Wii, and the only reason I got HBC was because I wanted to play on Wiimmfi and get CTGP-R. I formatted the Wii once I got it, and I don't regret getting one. A couple questions though. The last thing I would EVER want to happen to my Wii is for it to get bricked, since my parents would murder me, so what are some good anti-bricking stuff I can get, and can you explain how to install/use them the non-noob way? I don't think I installed BootMii with the HackMii installer, because the lousy tutorial didn't even mention it.
