offering *.xm files as background music
January 26, 2009 04:52PM
hello all,

first off all i'm a big fan of all homebrew and i enjoy it every day.
I also love making music.
1 thing i miss in the average homebrew out now is good quality of sound and music.

in the past i made lots of xm files.
recently i make music in programs like ableton and cubase.

but now on the Nintendo DS there is a tracker called Nitrotracker :D
yess its homebrew !

so i can make XM music files with it. i already finished one and its quite good.
some people don't even believe its made on a "gameboy" whahaha.
i travel by train for at least 1,5 hours each working day so i've got time and motivation.

i like to make hiphop, drum n bass, electro and techno but other styles can be done.
if you want to hear something i've made (to get an idea of my skillz)
check these out:

so basicly my question is:
Can you use XM files or just mod, ogg and mp3?
because i prefer XM above MOD, it gives me more musical freedom
and i can use nitrotracker and thus will be more productive.

i prefer mp3 and ogg above all.
but then file size becomes very large (like 3 MB per level).
who wants to cooperate? please email me.

warm greetingz,
Peter de Man

I could use some background music for WiiBreaker. Just like 2 or 3 tracks that will be used to play continuously on both the menu and the game. Mp3 please. Also, the next version of WiiBreaker may not be out for a couple months or so, but I could quickley make a .31 release that just replaces the crappy sound effects with the new background music. Let me know if you're interested.

hi Arikado,

Yes, i am interested. I just played the game a few times to get into this game and to search for a vibe that fits.
i think i got at least maybe 2 tracks that suit it quite well. I realy like that its playable with the balanceboard. its quite hard !!! darn :D

Can we talk in email because some things like "feedback" to your game and my music is better discussed in private don't you agree? you can find my email on my website peterdeman dot com

btw.
I program in C for the atmel and microchip PIC's and design circuit boards.
I'm not into programming for Wii but if i had all the tools setup on my laptop
for simple things i could also help with he game itself.
i could make some functions that can have an inputs and return a certain output.
like the direction the ball should bounce of the paddle.

for now i stick to sound. lets not do too much to start with hahaha.

greetingz,
Peter de Man

The music you have given me for WiiBreaker is the best music I've heard anywhere on the Wii homebrew scene. I personally feel as though WiiBreaker is not worthy of the music you've given me. It's so great, I'm gonna stay up really, really, late tonight to see if I can push out another release of WiiBreaker just so other people can hear how great this is.

Thank you Peterdeman. You're the best :)

It would be nice to have something for the opening of the wii...
I'll add a default screen and default sound to my new stuff...

Your name will be properly credited in the readme of the program.

a startup tune for the Wii.
Wow yeah that is cool. I'll think about how it should sound.

Is there any progress?

Here is an idea : what about something like this, capture the sound from drive upon start and improvise the rest changing the initial drive sound a bit making like drive sound grows bigger... a nice effect... and a melody that swings between slow and fast tempo...
