Debugging under Linux

I am a total noob when it comes to coding and debugging for the wii.

I have downloaded devkitpro and I can make and run selfmade tutorial examples.
Now I wanted to try debugging via USBGECKO.
Does anyone know if there is a good tutorial anywhere how to do this.
I am using Debian Sid as a operating system on my PC.

I just can not connect via "powerpc-gecko-gdb" and then "target remote /dev/ttyUSB0" to the Wii
Any ideas anyone ??
Sorry, I tried the search function before but I did not find any hints.
I just cannot believe everyone is using windoze for that.
