I've noticed that there are a couple of 3d homebrew games and was wondering if it is possible or will be possible to import 3d models for games. (.obj .3ds ,etc).

take a look at [www.wiibrew.org], Its a 3d game engine for wii homebrew. Enjoy.

No ofense, but I think that project died long time ago. It didn't ever get released, not even an alpha version I think.

You'd better try with Revolution engine (Models can be converted into the format of the engine from Obj models). It works, it's published and it's in constant development (right now I'm writting some code for it).

You can download the latest stable version from here.

Also, if you want to have the latest code available, you can checkout the svn repository at google code, it's everything in the web

I know its very old and sort of died before it was born. However I just figured it would be worth him looking at.
