:( PSP updated to v5.02

You must get a pandora battery to uupdate. A 5.03M33 wouldn't help you because Sony has patched up holes that allow the unsigned code to run so without a patch (M33) you cannot run the updater files. Do you have a PSP-3000? If so then you cannot hack it just yet anyways.

You need a pandora battery to install a CFW, it doesn't matter what Sony firmware you're on

Well yeah you need to downgrade to install the CFW. Like pinball Wizard said, Sony has patched firmwares in newer versions so you have to downgrade to a vulnerable one.

I don't know how well you are with soldering but you COULD make a pandora's battery with your or by buying a new one. It involves breaking it apart and doing some soldering but that might be your thing. You need t obe experienced though, remember that.

no, not that I know of

Legally you cannot download these games (unless I misunderstand what you are getting at). Without a hacked PSP you cannot run these pieces of software anyways.

Google "psp hacks". There are plenty of detailed tutorials. If you're willing to risk it you can mod your battery without spending anything.

theres a new firmware 4 psp so is there a cfw that will work on v5.02 without using a pandora battery???

Like I said, the only way to get a cfw on 5.02 is with a pandora battery. That's it.

Do you have the game Grip shift? There is about to be released a way to run homebrew on the PSP with Gripshift. I can get you some more instruction as soon as the hack is released.

EDIT: Whatever you do do not update. To enable these hacks you must stay below 5.03 firmware version.

I thought you couldn't get a cfw through this hack, and it only lets you run some [specialized] psp homebrew...

They found a way similar to the Lumines hack to run a HEN (Homebrew Enabler) version of ther kernel. It is currently in revision to pretty it up but it has been done.

Not quite. You can now do everything that the custom firmware can do but until they finalize the IPL stuff we cannot install any M33 stuff on PSP-3000 or the one TA-V88-3 board. We are almost there. PSP-2000 and PSP-1000 can have the m33 install done with this though.

don't worry, I've decided not to update weeks ago
