wii motes!! help!!

I cant seem to figure out a way to have both wii motes lit and active while using homebrew... only one works. i tried reseting the other controller with the red button on the back, and the red button by the sd card. while in the homebrew menu. does anyone have any ideas! this would really suck if i cant get both to work. when i know a few people that had no problems what so ever.

Make sure that you sync all of your WiiMotes to your console by using the red button under the SD Card door and the battery cover on the WiiMote. I hit the button on the console then the remote and repeat the process for each of my WiiMotes. From my understanding, homebrews can not see 'Guest-synched' WiiMotes.
