Removing No-copy flag from save file
June 05, 2009 05:28PM
hey! does anyone know how to remove the no-copy game flag from a save file? i already enabled "remove copy flags" using the gecko os, but i still cannot copy a mario kart wii save file. So i guess the save file itself has a no-copy game file. How do i deal with this? Thank you!

Use Gecko OS to reboot with hooks. (Note: it doesn't work on 3.4 or 4.0)

yup i already rebooted with hooks. my wii is US 3.2. i tried copying the mario kart wii game file, and the same message appears, "you must first play this game on your wii console to copy data". any idea? thanks!

Uh, its pretty straight forward. Go launch mario kart throuch gecko os, and then unlock some characters/karts/tracks and then save it. then try to copy it over again.

Try booting the game, then return to the Wii Menu to copy the save

EDIT: what he said ^

I use Preloader 0.29 hacks for my system menu. ^^ Works good, I can copy to SD card and copy back on 4.0

Change the settings in the Preloader menu and set it to ignore standby.

alright now it stops spinning endlessly but the light is still red which (if im right) means that wiiconnect24 is off. i checked and made sure it is on please help
thanks in advance

Well the "Ignore Standby" setting just keeps the Wii from entering Standby Mode when you turn it off. This means that it is not using Wiiconnect24 while it is turned off. As soon as you turn the Wii on, it will try to connect again. This shouldn't cause you any trouble, but if you absolutely NEED to have the Wii using Wiiconnect24 when it's turned off, you can change the Preloader settings back. This will, however, cause the disk to spin endlessly again, so then you will just have to take the disk out when you shut down the Wii.

Yes, it was. Some other people have also been having this problem, so apparently it didn't. Probably just a lack of beta-testing, I don't know.

Auto-update? Not true. The Wii cannot update itself through WiiConnect24

not like a new system menu but nintendo says

"We may without notifying you, download updates, patches, upgrades and similar software to your Wii Console and may disable unauthorized or illegal software placed on your Wii Console to ensure that your Wii Console is operating properly and efficiently, comply with applicable laws, assist law enforcement, protect us and our customers, or prevent the use and distribution of software obtained through improper channels."

so thats not a system menu update but like an IOS update.

PS: that is the 3.4 policy

a) as off now, nobody has found any traces of an auto update mechanism
b) Nintendo can't just do it legally to your hardware in many regions of the world.

I'd call the 3.4 policy an empty threat..
It is literally impossible (as of right now) for them to update without your permission

well thats just like nintendo to lie to us to keep "their" stuff "safe"

thanks for the info

either way i like downloadable content

thats a good idea for a homebrew app!!!!!! it would download stuff for games that have dlc abilities like animal crossing and then inject it into the save game
it would get the dlc from some server somewhere
i would make it myself but i dont know how to code anything ever

And steal the DLC?
Illigal.
DLC isnt downloaded, its "unlocked".

oh i didnt know that
but even if it is "unlocked" then that means they are up for grabs right?
i dont think it would be stealing since nintendo usually leaves dlc on their servers soooo.... just saying
