What was the name of the effect?

Anyone know the name of this effect that I'll describe...

Picture stripe by stripe leaves screen, using sine(in this case cosinus possibly) values... the lower part leaves the screen faster with more space between stripes (start of the cosinus wave)... space between stripes becomes smaller as the picture gets out of the screen (the rest of the cosine wave till it becomes zero...)

If anyone remembers that effect was used in the rastan game on commodore 64... in the opening picture... possibly it was used in a lot of other stuff too.. that one is the best I remember...

You mean like turning a rectangular brush with black paint around, slowly covering the picture?

Oops nope... actually vertical but I'll expain it horizontally... assume the points are the lines or line groups (stripes) in the picture...
