putting apps onto homebrew channel

i have an hbc_apps folder and an apps folder in the root of my sd card. when i download the apps and extract them do i put the .dol files into the apps folder in the hbc_apps folder or the apps folder on the root of my sd card? i have downloaded apps like dvdx, backup launcher, ios downgrader, wad manager, cios downgrader, and some more so which folders would i put these in? plz help and thnx
also does anyone know wat apps i would need to download in order to play gamecube backups?
