Can't Play Famicom Disk System Games with FCE Ultra GX

For FCE Ultra GX, I have the disksys.rom installed in the right place and still I can't play the games. Is it a bug with the emulator, is it the disksys.rom, or is it me?

I think you have to have the Famicom system BIOS, which we cannot provide here.

As I said I had that placed in the correct folder but still can't play FDS games. I was able to do this before. I think the 3.0.9 version update doesn't allow it to be used for whatever reason.

An update with a fix has been released. Just saw tehskeen and it has a article for it. You should be able to download it from there or wherever you prefer to get your downloads for wii emus and apps.

Yeah I just noticed that. I guess I'll check that out later.

whats a BIOS and what is it used for and why cant it be provided here?

If you turn on your computer, before Windows (or Mac OS, or Linux) runs, the BIOS does. It decides what to load, where to load it from and how to load it. For that reason, FCEU GX needs the BIOS to tell it how to run FDS games, and how.

Yet I believe the NES and Famicom have a BIOS too and yet that is built-in the emulator correct? If so, why can't the Famicom Disk System BIOS be built-in too? I know it's copyrighted as mentioned here but the NES and Famicom are also copyrighted.

yes, but that's a lot of work for a very small niche. It's much more sensible to merely read and interpret the original BIOS
