Start Patch 4.2x Features on 4.1
October 22, 2009 09:38PM
Basically I saw the new Start Patch has new features like "Auto Press A at health check" can I use the new Start Patch on sys menu 4.1?

No it is for System Menu 4.2. Therefore, not 4.1. StartPatch has this in older (4.0, 4.1) versions as well. It is called "Remove Health Check" or something like that....

No. Install preloader. It has all the hacks.

The new version could be modified for 4.1, and it wouldn't be too hard, in fact, I may do it at the weekend if I have time and remember, if that would be useful for you.

Oh thanks. If you have time Im not like desperate for it though. Its a useful feature though :)
As for preloader it seems too annoying to remove. I have bootmii/boot2

Well, I'll have a look. I'm off school for the next week anyway, I should have time. But actually, the only patch in 4.2 that isnt in 4.1 is Remove HAXX, DVDX and RDZx checks, I think. I think the others are all in under different names, are they not?

If you still want it done, I'll do it. But I dont think it should be too necessary. However, I may try porting the remove HAXX, DVDx and RDZx check patch to 4.0/4.1 preloader hacks.ini, to allow twilight hack on 4.0/4.1.

Wouldn't enabling the twighlight hack on 4.0/4.1 be pointles?
You would have to use an exploit to run startpatch anyway...... Kinda redundant huh?

Useful only for recovery purposes via SaveMii/SaveMiiFrii.

SifJar: Hi. How are you? I'm missing these features for
system menu 4.1:

Block Disc Updates - Blocks updates which have been embedded in Discs.
Block Online Updates - Prevents online updates being installed.
Force WiFi Connection Test Error - Forces a WiFi Connection Test Error.
Replace Health Screen With Black - Instead of seeing the Health Screen, it shows a black screen.

Would it be possible (or too much to ask) to create a version for 4.1 with those features?
I don't want to upgrade to 4.2 and I was surprised when I saw that the 4.2 version is
the one with most features considering no one wants to use 4.2...

I wonder, what is this feature good for?
Remove Diag Disc Check - Remove Diagnostic Disc check.

Isn't that feature good to have so the Wii can check if you
have a disc with too much scratches on it, or something?

Remove diag disc check removes the diagnostic tests that the wii checks on discs... So my guess is it let's you run unsigned discs?

No, I think it removes the bit in "Savemii mode" that checks the title ID for 0xxx or 1xxx: diagnostic discs.

BTW, the only diagnosis the menu does of discs is checking the region. Hash and encryption is done by IOS.

It lets you boot regular discs in Recovery Mode (accessed using SaveMii/SaveMiiFrii/StartPatch patch). i.e. you could boot a (bought) Lego Indiana Jones disc in Recovery Mode, then use Indiana Pwns exploit (provided you have the save on your Wii).

Anyway, you can get all those patches by installing preloader and using hacks.ini. I couldn't be bothered porting StartPatch 4.2.X to 4.1, sorry. I have school, I dont have much free time. I may get round to doing it, but dont count on it.

how about to 4.0?
are any of these patches avaible for 4.0?

Most of them are as preloader hacks. A few aren't, but could be fairly easily ported. Also, StartPatch 4.0.x could have the patches from 4.2.x back ported to it.
