Snes9x GX and FCE Ultra GX just refresh my homescreen?

My Wii has been running the Homebrew Channel fine for more than a year after I followed a guide to make it do so more than a year ago. My System Menu is 4.3 and I am running IOS 58.

I downloaded from WiiBrew, extracted, and manually copied the apps folders of Snes9x GX and FCE Ultra GX to my SD Card and then installed both of their channels through the Homebrew Channel. Unfortunately when I start either my Homescreen just reloads. I think I had one or both working in the past before I deleted files associated with them from storage.

Please advise what I can do to fix.

Also, on a side note, if you have experience, would you recommend the Wii Classic Controller or the Wii Classic Controller Pro, and is there any point in ordering more than two? I cannot remember if there were any 4 player NES or SNES games.
