Idea for a new section to improve site

What about having a Tutorial section for new people to use? More experienced users could contribute to it at will by writing a tutorial on a certain HBC related topic and then sumbit it to an admin or mod for approval and then they post it with credit to the writer. This way nothing inappropriate or wrong gets posted and our site becomes that much more valuable as a refernce tool for new people getting into HBC. What do you all think, would this be a good fit for wiibrew's forums? Or is this something best left for other sites? Just a thought.

That's what the wiki is for.

It seems a little lacking in some places. How do you sumbit to the wiki?

Like if you want to write a tutorial for something you have done & gotten good at, & want to help others that are just begining HBC, learn how to do.

Thanks.

By signing up and editing it.

^exactly, everyone one knows you can create pages and edit them. Though it might be a good Idea to contact the wiki admins and see what they think of making a tutorials section, that would be helpful.

The merit of tutorials is debatable in my mind. On the one hand, yes they make it easy for n00bs and people who are learning. But on the other hand, if people blindly follow a tutorial instead of working stuff out for themselves, they have no idea what they are doing and when (probably not if) they screw up, they don't know how to fix it. It is much better for them to research things well and make an educated decision about what to install and how to do it. But for some simple things like setting up HBC and Homebrew Browser, its fine, as these things are safe, and they are relatively small things. If you add stuff like Trucha Bug restoration and IOS patching and stuff, I don't think there should be guides for that sort of thing. If you want to do those things, you should research before hand and learn everything yourself.
