Twilight hack - Mario Kart Upgrade
December 25, 2008 01:20AM
I have installed the homebrew channel using the twilight hack and also downgraded my Wii to software version 3.2E using various instructions and software I downloaded from the net.

Now when I try to play Mario Kart it wants to perform a system upgrade, Will this upgrade impact on my homebrew chanel and if so is there anyway around this so that I am able to play my Mario Kart game?

Cheers

Craig

It shouldn't affect the homebrew channel. I have v3.2E and have played Mario Kart with whatever upgrades were on the disc, and I'm still up and running :-)

no, wait... if it is a PAL Kart, it will go to 3.3

you can use starfall to skip the update!

@DrLucky: Are you sure? I have the PAL Kart, I did the updates off the disc, and I'm still on v3.2E

oh it was easier than I thought, just load the option to remove update checks! :)

Should I load any of the other patches from starfall??

Only if you want to.

I reccomend the Rescue Menu with Y Button and the Skip Rescue Menu Autoboot patches as then you can recover from some bricks.

I second this. Mario Kart (PAL) did not update my Wii beyond 3.2E

I'm tired of people saying to use starfall. STARFALL VERY DANGEROUS AND CAN BRICK YOUR WII. INSTEAD, ANY APP THAT RUNS GAME DISKS CAN AND WILL SKIP THE UPDATE. THIS INCLUDES GECKO OS, LIBWIIGAMELOAD, that one illegal loader that i will not mention, AND OCARINA!!!!

Not me. The wiibrew page says it could potentially happen (ex: you turn off the power in the middle of installing a hack or samething, maybe). But I've never heard of it actually happening. Plus with savemiifrii, bricks aren't that big of an issue.

If the system menu is corrupted, they are (which is how starfall would brick you)....
