Mega Merged BannerBomb Alpha thread
May 11, 2009 02:20PM
Place your questions and tips for getting Comex's "BannerBomb" alpha working in this thread.

Note: Please do not post questions asking how to install HBC with it, or linking to guides / packs / etc to do so. An official installer for use with BannerBomb is forthcoming, and we really prefer people do not redistribute HBC.
A about the 4.0 exploit
May 10, 2009 06:11PM
When I did 4.0 exploit
That i download from [bannerbomb.qoid.us]
(aad1f_v102.zip)

I seen that some dol/elf files works but others fail

For Me:

Works:
Super Hario War - seem to be working fine for a while (once it failed while I was playing)

Fails:
Homebrew Installer - It fails at the ticket (Error -1030002011 installing ticket)
Edited Out
Homebrew Browser - It freezes
Ocarina - For some reason it take forever or it freezes

I really need help installing the homebrew channel or at least haveing Ocarina working on the 4.0 exploit

Having issues with applications crashing during use with the bannerbomb alpha, too.
Most seem to stop responding to wiimote input after a short amount of time.
Gecko OS issues a code dump when trying to load a disc.
These all work fine via HBC.
Going to give the other exploit variants a try later, though I don't expect much, since I believe they are only meant to be fixes for the initial loading.

Edit:
Well, that didn't make a difference.

Do you think they might release a other bannerbomb alpha. so that can also work womebrew apps.
Or do they have to modify the dol files

Just use LoadMii to load other apps.
(For example, make LoadMii the boot.dol on the root of your SD card, then use LoadMii to run another boot.dol or boot.elf.)

This happens to me too, which makes it hard to use emulators...

It's a link to downgrading, which is not supported here. High risk of bricking.
HBC Pack for 4.0 (via Bannerbomb) on Wiibrew Homepage - is it OK?
May 10, 2009 03:54AM
Somebody (with the username fourpointoh) edited the news on the frontpage.

He added a link to a package with wads (HBC, loadmii) and 3 dols.

here are the complete contents of the readme file

HAVE BANNERBOMB TESTED AND WORKING FIRST. BannerBomb is found here: [bannerbomb.qoid.us]

1) Put all the files in the pack in the SD card's root folder.
2) Run BannerBomb. IOS35 should install over the network. If it errors, there is no issue.
3) When thats done, delete boot.dol and rename comex.dol to boot.dol.
4) Run BannerBomb. When NOTDVDX loads, press "Install IOS35". If you get the "you are a pirate" message, you probably are. Fuck off.
5) When thats done, delete boot.dol and rename wad.dol to boot.dol.
7) Run BannerBomb and select HBC.wad or LoadMii.wad. Press + to install.
8) Exit to Wii Menu, enjoy HBC/LoadMii!

Who did this?
Is it legit?

It's not a guide to downgrading and I can confirm this working in at least one case

I was not going to use it. I just wanted to draw attention at it.

It is suspicious, that somebody (anonymous) changed the news and added a new link, without giving any explanation on Wiibrew.
In the worst case the wads and dols in the package could have bricked a Wii.

Initially I wanted to remove the link, but than I decided to start a thread here, so it can be discussed.

(I admire that the author included a kind of piracy detection)

Ah, so apparently I missed nothing earlier about this being posted on WiiBrew's home page. Plus, wouldn't the legit version be a lot more detailed (and, for that matter, stay posted with a credible source)?

the bannerbomb.qoid.us is the legit website.
I am using bannerbomb right now!

Although the only launcher app that worked was loadmii

But yeh, I recommend using it, it's great!
I think there is no hassle at all :]

Here, [arikadosblog.blogspot.com], on my blog, I have listed a couple of methods that may recover (NOTE: Not reinstall necessarily) the HBC for you.

Could you elaborate a bit more on this step?

1)Run WiiSCU with Bannerbomb and tell it to install a patched version of IOS 60.

I'm running WiiSCU and have gotten to the 'IOS Installation/Upgrade Options' screen, and there's the option to "Install IOS60 ?", with the three options being 'No', '-Trucha' and '+Trucha'.

Which one do I select? I don't want to brick my Wii...
