To WiiSCU or to not WiiSCU

I have questions on the whole Updating process with homebrew Should I use WiiSCU? or should I allow normal update because there is always the chance that nintendo will try to crush the homebrew community, should I leave WiiConnect24 on or not.

I would pick:

-Normal update
-Leave WC24 On

After all, Nintendo has yet to release anything that hurts homebrew recovery and Nintendo has yet to perform an update without user consent.

I would turn WC24 off, because it is not unlikely, that it overheats your Wii.

When WC24 is on, the GPU is alwyas on, the Wii is wasting almost 10 Watts, and it gets hot, hottere than playing any Wii game!

EDIT: typo

I never use WC24, it just scares me the fact that its on the whole time and that nintendo can access it through internet and stuff. Its true also that it gets super hot too. But as for updating, just regularily update, I have never had any issues with normal updating.

honestly, i leave my wc24 on all the time and i heve never noticed it getting hot. Also, Nintendo can't legally update your wii without your consent in many countries...

Perhaps it is because your Wii is newer, but touch it, it definitly gets warm in (yellow) Stand Bye!
Warmer than normal gaming conditions.

Actually mine is a launch week wii... Weird. It does get warm-ish but not as hot as a game.

Which game makes your Wii hotter?

I meant in general there isn't really a specific game that gets hotter than the other.

So basicly every game makes your Wii get hotter than it being in WC24/yellow Stand Bye mode?

Maybe it got better thanks to firmware updates.

It does in fact get warm but not too hot o would say there is a barely noticable difference between a game and wc24

Give it some time :)

I will try if the behavior changes after a firmware update (I am still on 3.2)
