Eh...I chickened out. I dont want any cIOS on my Wii since it supposedly does something negative? Risky?
AFAIK, you can't install anything that can mess with bootmii. If something goes wrong, then just restore your backup. I've restored my backup(s) multiple times, and never had any issues. I really think its fine to install.

Ok then. Ill go for it. >_<

And how do you download over the network by the way? It says thats what I need to do to download that cIOS in case I do actually do it.

When you run the installer, I'm pretty sure it gives you the selection to download it over the network. Just select the option and it will begin installation.

...Its an app.....Run it through the HBC.....

Edit: if you don't understand, take the boot.dol file, make a folder in your apps folder called "cios installer", or whatever you want to name it. Put the boot.dol inside of it, and then launch the HBC.

Ahh sorry one final question. What exactly do these things do (the ones in bold)

This is basically Starfall for versions 4.0 and 4.1.

The system menu hacks are:

Region free (including Wii channels and SD Card menu channels)

Skipping the disk update check

Removal of the health check

Booting recovery menu by pressing Y on a Nintendo Gamecube controller in port 1

Removal of the diagnostic disc check

Force Disc Region

Remove NoCopy Protection

Free movement of the Disc Channel

Can autoboot a game by booting the Recovery menu, pressing Y on a Nintendo Gamecube controller in port 1 and removing the diagnostic disc check

is cIOS rev12 or higher supported here for system menu 4.0??

What do you mean? Can it not be installed on 4.0? I wouldn't know, because I'm on 3.2.

The link is on the wiki page..... but in order for it to run you have to have the cIOS installed.... the ways of getting a cIOS on 4.1 arent supported here

i was asking if to get cios on 4.0 is supported here cause topgun said that on 4.1 it isnt

does startpatch work if i have preloader??

1)cIOScorp effs up bootmii - its not a normal cIOS

2)You dont need THAT cIOS, IIRC you just need trucha present in IOS 249. How you do that is up to you.

3)If you dont understand what a startpatch hack does - dont install it.

Region free (including Wii channels and SD Card menu channels)

Booting recovery menu by pressing Y on a Nintendo Gamecube controller in port 1

Force Disc Region

Remove NoCopy Protection
Region free channels gives you... region free channels. (You could boot channels you could normally get from Japan or Europe)

You can boot the recovery menu by pressing Y on a Gamecube controller. (The recovery menu is what a Savemii boots to when you use one) I don't know much about the recovery menu.

Force disk region is basically region free disks.

Remove no copy protection allows you to copy save files that normally don't allow you to copy them. (So you could copy them to the SD Card, for instance)

No.

It does exactly what it's name implies. It forces a disc to be booted under the region it is made for.

does it work if i have preloader installed??
Re: StartPatch... Is it worth it?

Yes but they sometimes conflict... for example if you have the same hack on both preloader and startpatch then it wont work. (why do you need both?)
Re: StartPatch... Is it worth it?
September 08, 2009 03:13AM
because i cant use the preloader hacks
it says:
"hack.ini not found on sd card or nand"
any help? i have preloader0.29
actually im thinking in uninstalling preloader
how do i do this?

To uninstall preloader get a system menu wad with NUSD and install it. Make sure that it is the same system menu as your current one

ok thx
better get back on topic...
Re: StartPatch... Is it worth it?

You cannot install StartPatch hacks while preloader is installed. You can install StartPatch hacks, then install preloader, but not the other way round. And once you install preloader, you wont be able to remove StartPatch hacks without installinf a System Menu WAD, and thus removing preloader.

Yea I didnt install it due to the risk involved with cIOS. Thanks for the help though I guess its useful for anyone with the same question
