Hello,
this is my very first post here. :-)
I've seen that this forum really really rocks :-)
Here is my little boring question:
I want to create and release a wii port of an emulator..I know there are already a lot of them..but question(s) is:
how much emulators are REALLY legal? Especially for wii, are there particular rules to follow?
I know that emulators SHOULD be legal while an user doesn't use them with roms unauthorized..but what about the emulator itself? A wii homebrew emulator potentially can make damage to who wants to create commercial packages of emulator+games..so..what is the risk? I don't think that an author should hide into a never used pseudonym, using a fake address etc etc..but since it will be my very first release, I'd like to know the real situation of this stuff.

What do you think? What do you know about it?

Tantric? :-)

Thank you

Emulators are 100% legal. You could consider them the same thing as any virtual machine (like the Java VM): they are running code that was not designed to run natively on the platform that the emulator/virtual machine itself is running on.

Wii homebrew, as it is not under the control of anyone, has no restrictions.
