wii connect 24...turn it off after installing hbc?

i think i heard that leaving wc24 on will brick your wii because it will give you away online? i also heard it will fry your graphics card but since its been off im having trouble getting online. does everyone have wc24 on who has hbc and hbb? i know your not supposed to update through nintendo anymore but should i have it on?

doesn't really matter, they can't auto-update you.

I update through Nintendo just fine, but I don't have 30000x mods. I only use the bare minimum for what I need, I take a minimalist approach to...well... anything with computers, really (yet I despise cloud computing)

I leave wc24 off in standby because it made my Wii overheat, causing me to have to send it to Nintendo. This was before I ever used homebrew.

Bear in mind that it happened in August and I have no air conditioning.

Leaving wc24 on when the Wii is on is find. The only thing turning off standby mode breaks is the News Channel--Nintendo won't let you download news unless they can give it to you when they want.
