Few Starter Questions,
December 18, 2008 10:34PM
Hi There,

Got A Wii Recently,
Came across Hombreware,
Then came accross this site,
Which says all of the software in Hombreware is availbe free.

So Here I Am.
Few questions if you dont mind,

1. How do i find out what firmware is on my wii?
2. To be able to install hombrew i need Twighlight game?

3. Well as it said on the Hombreware site it lets you play backup games.
Does that mean installing homebrew will allow me to play backups.
Im not refferiing to "piracy" of games there, I am reffering to actual backups of games which i dont think is rule breaking.
Sorry if it is!

If someone wouldnt mind asnwering my few questions,
Thanks!

1. In the System Menu, click the Wii icon in the bottom left, then choose Wii Settings. In the top right corner should be "Ver. 3.2E", or something similar

2. Or a mod chip and the homebrew channel installer ISO

3. Don't ask about "backups" regardless of whether you mean legal or illegal. Nobody will answer because it would be open to abuse by people who *do* pirate.

Thanks for your reply,

The only thing left me is the 3rd question.

Im sure you could answer that question,
As its nott asking about "illegal" games.

Backups, and as i remember its not bad to ask about backups.

Maybe I can, maybe I can't. Can't say for definate, because I've never tried.

But let me try and explain this to you so you understand our (my) reluctance to help...

You may own the game you want to play, however, if we tell you how to play a copy of that game, then somebody else who decides to download a copy of a game without owning the original can then use the same instructions to play an illegal copy.

Therefore, we have no part in playing with backups, as it will provoke Nintendo in locking down the already tightnening belt of homebrew.

Thanks for your reply,

Ahh No,
Im not asking for instructions,
Im simply asking if its possible to play backups through homebrew?
Simple Yes or No Reply.

As I See it,
A Origianl game that is owned, A backup is made to play, but you own both,
I dont think thats illegal,
Ive got no intention of downloading,
Only simply asking a question,

Hope you see my point,

we certainly see your point,

true, a legitimate backup, and not a copy, is perfectly legal.
Unfortunately, there is not a way to distinguish between the 2 online. So, to prevent hassles with Nintendo, we do not teach how to play backups since it could be for pirating. We understand you completely.

Okay, let's nip this in the bud... No, you can't

Hm,
I see,

if we tell you how to play a copy of that game, then somebody else who decides to download a copy of a game without owning the original can then use the same instructions to play an illegal copy.

I think what your trying to say above is yes you can but we cant say.

Yes. The applications to do so are free, but you cannot find them on wiibrew. But a little bit of googleing will get you far...

The problem is we can't tell the difference between people who are actually using backup copies, and people who are using illegal copies and calling them backups, and if we help with illegal copies, AFAIK we'd be breaking the law too. (Or at least Nintendo would have reason to attack us.) The same methods are used for both, so we can't help with either.

3.2 is best (no blocks by Nintendo) but 3.3 will be fine. JUST DO NOT UPGRADE TO 3.4!
Re: Few Starter Questions,

And then you can downgrade to 3.2!

Try to go to the core site of this forum, or the link a the top, Wiibrew.org
Except that Wiibrew.org is the source of wiibreware, all stuff is free, and most of it opensource etc, etc, etc.[1]
...
