black screen from homebrew

hi, i've borrowed my friend's twilight hacked wii. i opened up the homebrew channe. but it simply loads up a black screen. is that a common symptom to a common problem?

What system menu are you using? Anything 3.2 or newer has disabled the Twilight Hack. If you're above 3.2, use Bannerbomb

That makes absolutely no difference. Also, the Twilight Hack was not disabled until system menu 4.0.

Reinstall the latest version (1.0.6) of the Homebrew Channel to fix it.

he's running ver. 4.1u. does that mean i have to reinstall the latest version (1.0.6)? and if so? how? i borrowed his wii with the assumption that it had been hacked already.

That is definitely a problem, although it almost certainly is not the cause of the issue with the Homebrew Channel. Wiicroc's applications are not supported here, as they are usually used for piracy.

A black screen on HBC may signify an old HBC installation with missing IOS61 IIRC... Haven't had that issue in a while. Updating to latest HBC by running HackMii Installer via bannerbomb should fix it I reckon.
