Updating Wii Shop channel

Quick question here. It's been awhile since I've done any modding on my Wii so sorry if this has been addressed frequently. I wanted to access my Wii Shop channel on my Wii recently but it is asking that I do a firmware update on the Wii. I'm running on firmware 4.3U and am on IOS58 v24.32. I was tempted to update but it gave me a warning box saying that it would delete any unauthorized modifications on my wii and my system could be inoperable if I continue? Is it safe to update or what should I do so I can get access to the Wii Shop Channel?

It's fine. It just adds capability for the Wii U Transfer Tool. And a Wii Shop update.
