black screen ! wiimotes wont turn on

i got help yesterday to fix wii

this morning ive turned on wii and uninstalled a wad file using the wad manager , when the wii reset it stayed on a black screen . the disc drive sounds like its trying to read a disc (none in it) and then it just stays on black screen !!!

any ideas as to what has happened and how to fix it ?

i tried holding in + and - to boot in maintenance mode but it doesnt work

You fully bricked your Wii.

Unless you have BootMii installed, you now own a $250 brick.

have you bootmii installed as boot2, if you have i may have the answer, it worked for me.

i know i installed it ! but dont know if i kept the stuff on my sd card or not :(

FYI, you need a boot2 install.

If bootmii doesnt show up when you start your Wii, then there's nothing you can do.

How you have installed bootmii? You have 2 options for installing: boot2 (the bootmii starts before sys menu) and IOS (bootmii starts from the HBC home menu). If you have the first option all ok, just put the bootmii folder on SD, otherwise you can do pratically nothing.

what would the file be called ?

i deleted all the files i had in rage but can recover them !!!!

any idea what they would be named ?

the files are /bootmii/ppcboot.elf and /bootmii/armboot.bin. I can send you the files if you need...

when you installed it (bootmii) it will of created a file on your sd card called bootmii, inside this are 3 files armboot and the other 2. if you have them on your sd card? stick it in swithch on wii and bootmii will load!
if not ccleaners company have a programme that can recover deleted files from an sd. (its freeware) cant remember what its called now, oh i just minimizzed me screen its called recuva.

i managed to find 3 files armboot.bin ,ppcboot.elf and a text file !!!

are those the right ones or am i still missing one ??


ive put both them onto sd but nothing happens ?

If you put them on your SD card and bootmii didn't load, that means you must not have installed boot me onto boot2.......

oh well need to buy a new one !!!!

make a file called bootmii on the root of your sd.
put armboot.bin / ppcboot.elf and bootmii which is a configuration setting file. into the folder you made on the root of your sd card. if you have an old wii as in before mid 08 bootmii should of installed as boot2 which is good for you.

if you havent got the bootmii (file which is a configuration setting file) then pm me and i will send it to you as an email. you will have to send me your email address.

also try a different sd card with the files on it. i have some traveller sd ones that dont work and some marks and spencer sd ones that do.

im not positive that you need the files in a bootmii folder on the root of your sd card but that is how they are for me. (thats how bootmii wrote them there)

In my bootmii folder on the root of my SD card, I have the following:

armboot.bin
bootmii.ini
ppcboot.elf

Do you have all of those files in the bootmii folder on the root of your SD card?

BTW, it IS possible to fix without BootMii as boot2, but you'll need the keys of your Wii, which you probably dont have, and now cant get, and you also need a hardware NAND programmer (piece of hardware you plug the NAND chip into, then connect to computer to flash stuff to the NAND) and a NAND dump from another Wii with the same boot1 and boot2 versions. And you need to be able to take your Wii apart and remove the NAND chip and then replace it later without damaging anything.
