Wii resets itself on Homebrew Channel load

Wii resets itself on Homebrew Channel load
February 02, 2010 01:20AM
I've got a weird problem going on at the moment.

My wii won't load the Homebrew Channel from the Wii Menu, it just resets itself. But if I go to the Homebrew Channel using BootMii, it works.

I'm also having issues with Metroid Prime Trilogy loading but then resetting the Wii when I select to play the game (if you have the game, you'll understand what I mean).

Any ideas?

EDIT: Just to add, I've tried reinstalling the IOSes using Dop-IOS MOD without any patching (except for 36, which I guess is required, right?) and that's not worked either.

No, patching is not required.. But regarding your problem, I have no idea.

Have you reinstalled the latest versions of all of the IOSes?

Yes, I went through installing all the ones I could with Dop-IOS MOD, no patching except on 36. Which the poster before has informed me I don't need either.

Try reinstalling the Homebrew Channel. If that doesn't work, please post the log from the Hackmii Installer.

I've also tried that. It makes no difference to the situation though. I can still only get to it using BootMii.

What do you mean by the log from the HackMii Installer, how would I get it? It does (re)install okay, but it still doesn't work through the Wii Menu.

The log is created by the Hackmii Installer whenever you use it. It is on the root of your SD card, and its called installer.log (or something like that).

According to that, you have the following IOSes patched.
Found IOS 70: revision: 0x1a1f*
Found IOS 254: revision: 0xc14*
Found IOS 38: revision: 0xf1b*
Found IOS 60: revision: 0x181e*
Found IOS 249: revision: 0x4*
Found IOS 36: revision: 0xd17*
IOS254 and 249 are cIOSes I assume but 38, 60, and 70 are patched.

So do I need to remove IOS254 and 249? I see them in Dop-IOS MOD but can't do anything with them. Also it's unusual about IOS38, 60 and 70 because like I said I've been through Dop-IOS MOD updating them with non-patched versions.

Update:

Dop-IOS Mod reports that 254 is just a "PatchMii prevention stub, useless." and I can't do anything with it, say it's at version 3092. It says 249 is "Piracy prevention stub, useless." and reports it's version as 4, also can't do anything with it.

Unpatched the other ones you mentioned, still having the problem though.

There was an error in dop-IOS MOD, I think its fixed now, try using the latest version. It was something to do with channels resetting or something, was fixed very recently so you probably have an old version with the bug in it.

UPDATE:

Using Dop-IOS MOD v11.5 has fixed all my problems. Ran SysCheck with this new version. Thank you all very much for your help!

I know this is starting to get outdated but I really need help and this is the only thing close to my problem I've seen that appears to have solutions. Unfortunately I don't understand a thing being said about all the patching and manual updates. I installed the HBC and BootMII using letterbomb and it went beautifully. Got it bootmii installed as an IOS fine and the homebrew channel is on my menu as well as in the bootmii menu.

Unfortunately when I try to run the homebrew channel it resets my wii........from the bootmii menu and the normal wii menu. I've reinstalled a bunch and nothing. If any one knows what might be up with this please get me some info or a link to someone who addresses this as I'm at my wits end and I don't know enough to comfortably do manual modification. I'm trying to learn but if there is any who can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

I use 4.3u btw

Load any title deleter and delete system title "ios 0" if you have it.
