Age excuses nothing. Many members of the community are quite young.
ROMs are images of games that come on cartridges (e.g. NES games, GBA games, NDS games) as opposed to discs (e.g. Wii games, GC games etc.). They are used in emulators, but it is generally speaking illegal to download ROMs of games in most countries. Usually it is legal to make your own ROMs from your own cartridges, but this often requires special hardware. The rules here are opposed to discussing where to obtain ROMs in an illegal manner.
And yes you have probably got the codes in the wrong place. Try using Accio Hacks to download the codes and it should put them in the correct place.
