How do I completely remove Softmodded Wii to restore to factory default?
November 04, 2011 12:49AM
Hello all,
I’ve had a friend softmod my Wii console, they’ve since moved. I believe it’s 4.2U, but I am not absolutely sure. I want to update to the latest version, 4.3 (I believe)I live in Canada if that makes a difference but the Wii throws out an error code 32004. I was able to follow some instructions to get my preloader information:

White screen,
System Menu
Homebrew Channel
Bootmii IOS.

Installed file
Load/Install file
System Menu hacks
Settings

IOS v70
Priiloader v0.3b (r48M)
Systemmenu v481
Priiloader is a mod of preloader 0.30

I have formatted my Wii system, in an attempt to restore it to factory defaults, but in the process, that has removed my HBC. What I wanted to know is, how can I restore my Wii to factory defaults so that I can update to Wii version 4.3?

Thank you for your time!

If you can access Priiloader (Hold Reset when powering on the Wii) then make sure there are no System Menu hacks on. There is a specific "hack" that forces the Wii Update to give an error code.
If the hacks aren't on then you can use DOP-Mii to install System Menu 4.3U and IOS80 (which is needed by 4.3U and very important that you install first!). I believe you can put DOP-Mii on your SD card and then from Priiloader select "Load/Install File" and then load DOP-Mii.

I did try clicking the "System Menu Hacks" button, but I get a message saying "Failed to mount fat device, Can't find Hacks.ini on NAND"
So do I still do the whole DOP-Mii thing, and is there a guide you could point me to?
Thanks!

That error means that either your SD card is not in or that it isn't readable. Make sure the SD card is in the Wii and has the "hacks.ini" file. You can get that here: www.mediafire.com/?kqwozjzzhmg
You can still use DOP-Mii if that doesn't work.

If the online update fails, just load dop-mii and install the needed updates. There really is not any reason to stress about this, just update what you need.
Install ios80-v6944
Install system menu 4.3 for your region
Update ios 9, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 21, 22, 28, 31, 33, 35, 36, 37, 38, 53, 55, 56, 57, 58, 61
Update all needed channels
That is about it.
Thank you Mauifrog :)

Okay, so we're getting a little closer..
I got all the way to "Are you sure you want to install IOS80 (v6944)?
[A] Yes No [Home] Return To Loader

Loading IOS80 v6944 into memory
<< Download from NUS >>
<< Load WAD from SD Card >>
<< Load WAD from USB Storage >>
or
<< Cancel >>

If you could, leave a detailed response with links if I will need to download things! Thank you!

Download from NUS
I tried that, it says it can't download. So, what's the next thing I should do? :P

You could use the nus downloader and get the needed wads. Put them on sd:\wad and install from sd. You will need to name the wads exactly what dop-mii is looking for.

You open nusdownloader, select the desired title, download and pack it to wad. Then place the wad on sd:\ or sd:\wad. Why and what are you trying to upgrade?

same thing as me. I got all that info showing. I downloaded hacks.ini file an I saved the settings. im not too sure what I need to do next. I downloaded DOP-Miiv12 to the sd card and when I go to install it tells me it couldn't find any executive files in the FAT device and I cant go to installed file because it will tell me error auto-booting, try re-installing, could not open file.

Inside the wads folder you should have these files for DOP-Mii. System titles 00000001 and etc. Make sure you extract these files.
