A few questions

I want to install the homebrew channel on my wii because I want to try out Brawl+. Currently I can't access the wii shop channel because I'm not on version 4.0, is there anything I can do to use the shop channel again once I get the homebrew channel? If I buy a game that has version 4.0, is there a way to play the game without updating? And does Nintendo ban people from their online service if they have the homebrew channel?

Yes, there is a homebrew app that lets you update the Shop Channel.
Yes, there is a homebrew app that lets you skip disc updates on games.
No, Nintendo won't ban you for having the Homebrew Channel. (They can ban you for cheating online.)
