update + boot

i am new here, i do realy like the homebrewchanel so i installed it. I also installed som wads and DVDx. i'd like to update my wii because a game asks for it, my question: is this save to do.

because when you mod an xbox and you do update, the xbox destructs itselfes. is this the same with the wii. With a xbox there is way to boot it and install new firmware even if the firmware is totaly down, is there also a posibility like that for the wii?

Xboxes don't destroy themself :D

it will not brick the wii if you update through nintendo

And in answer to your other question, install BootMii. Then you can take a NAND backup, and even if you brick your Wii, you can boot and restore the NAND dump.
