Wii Shop Channel?
June 15, 2009 08:21PM
I have Wii system 3.4E with Homebrew Channel installed, and I need to use the Wii Shop Channel, but I don't want to lose the HBC. I tried this:

1. Downloaded [wiibrew.org]
2. Plugged out all the GC controllers
3. Installed the Wii Shop Channel and IOS51
4. Tried to start the Shop Channel

When I did this, the Wii restarted. Can someone help me out with a step-by-step guide on how to fix this?

The IOS 51 method is outdated. Use WiiSCU to update the new IOS's and channels. If you want to update, run this app and update IOS61 and the Shop Channel. Hope this helps. Ask if you don't understand, or if you have any problems! :D

Also, you may as well update to System Menu 4.0. You wouldn't lose the Homebrew Channel or any significant features. This would allow you to use the Wii Shop Channel and use the new SDHC features offered by System Menu 4.0.

It worked! Give WaxyPumpkin72 a trophy! =D

Are you sure there are no downsides of downloading 4.0?

Yes, I'm sure. System Menu 4.0 will only disable the Twilight Hack and DVDx Installer 3.4. You can use BannerBomb and the HackMii Installer instead to achieve the same thing. All other homebrew will still work. If you were using System Menu 3.2, I would recommend not upgrading, because you would lose fakesigning capabilities. But because you are on 3.4, you will only gain new features.

To get the 4.0 upgrade? Just go to Settings in the Wii, and I think its on the last page, should say something like System Update. Click it, and wait for it to do its stuff, then you'll be on 4.0
