BootMii Boot2... Do I need it?

If I am going to just use DVDX and HBC for emulators and the games you can download through HBC, do I need to install BootMii on boot2?

I ask this question now because yesterday I was told BootMii, DVDX and HBC will not brick my WII. I also read that those who had BootMii on boot2 had troubles in the past when they updated through Nintendo via the settings.

Thanks much for your help,
Tony

Bootmii as boot2 isn't necessary, but it is quite useful. You can get quicker access to the HBC, and you can backup/restore your NAND.

I would say install it.

Alright I will leave BootMii installed as Boot2.

I just noticed thay have channel forwarders for the emulators. Are channel forwarders bad? Can they brick the WII or do they screw with performance?

Thanks.

I'm sorry, I'm not really familiar with forwarders...

they could bannerbrick your wii, but if you have bootmii as boot2, you will always be able to boot HBC and use AnyTitle Deleter to delete the bad channel. but a lot of them are illegal. If you make them yourself with an app like CustomizeMii, and use a legal base WAD, they will be legal though.
