New Games and required updates

Thank you to any who can help. I recently bought NMH2 (No More Heroes 2) and I need to update my wii in order to play it. I have the homebrew channel v 1.0.6 and I believe my current system menu is 4.2 (I'm not sure where to check this). But if anyone can help as to whether I can update my wii and still keep the Homebrew channel please respond. If further information is needed please ask. Thank you.
