New to brew need help accessing file system

Is there a way to hook up my Wii to my computer that way I can access the file system from my computer? I want to be able to search the memory or make a forensic copy of the file system. I have read about a program using letterbomb to make a backup of my system files on a SD card which I could then do what I need to on the computer with it, but I want to be able to access it without installing some type of program. I am a forensics student and I am trying to make a forensic copy of my Wii that way I can search for deleted files and non deleted files.

It's not going to be possible without running some sort of program from the SD card with Letterbomb or a similar exploit.
