Problem with Wii fit board

My father purchased a Wii 3.2U in Malaysia with a chip. It also has homebrew already as a channel.
When I tried to install and sync a Wii fit board purchased in Australia, I followed the instructions that asked me to "update".
The fit board will not sync and the disc appears on the menu but will not start. Nintendo has recommended that I need to purchase a new Australian Wii.
Is there anything I can do to use the board?

Try uninstalling the modchip.

Try launching the game with Gecko OS.
