CSS DVD support

I might be asking stupid here, but I'm just wondering why no one has made a mplayer (or other mediaplayer) application that can read content scrambled dvd's yet?

All the stuff is out there, and it can be done on gnu/linux. Is there any special reason that it hasn't happened for the Wii yet?

(If the answer is technical, I don't mind :) )

I'm afraid I don't know, but in my experience even regular DVD movies are choppy with MplayerCE, so I imagine that after this is cleaned up, then they may work on scrambled dvds...

Regular DVDs are scrambled.

DVD-Videos without CSS are the rare case (at least in Europe, Australia and North America)

I'm not sure about you guys but Mplayer "dvdlib" edition (methinks the team twiizers one?) seems to work for my copy of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe which has the 'copy protection' logo on the case and disc.

ie: It appears to read CSS fine, at least in New Zealand.

I'm pretty sure that both of these Mplayers can view copy protected dvds:

[wiibrew.org] (Pretty sure it works)
[wiibrew.org] (I can't remember if I checked this one or not)
