update to 4.0

is there any way to update my wii to 4.0 without the internet?

Well you could use the NUS Downloader and download the necessary titles, then install them with WAD Importer

Actually You can update (legally) your menu, Go out and rent "Punchout" or some recent game, and run the installer when prompted

i have punchout but i need to run i via disk chanell to launch installer, right?

AFAIK, punchout has 3.4

oh, some one told me it had 4.0... hmm, but normally to upgrade, yes you would go to disc channel it would say "Your System Needs to update ..." and you click yes and it will do it for you.... , one thing you can do is go out and buy the USB Internet Adapter for the Wii...

oh yeah discs. forgot about that. but is there one with 4.0 yet? grand slam tennis maybe? i dunno. but technically, NUSD uses the internet, just not on the Wii, and it may be that he doesn't want to use the internet at all (maybe on dial-up or something, so can make forum posts, but not download large files). Also, that could be slightly risky, if you dont have all the necessary files, you could easily brick iirc. of course he could install bootmii first and take a nand dump just in case.

Grand Slam Tennis DOES have the 4.0 update, my brother bought it yesterday and updated our Wii with it. And having BootMii installed doesn't really help you upgrade. But take a NAND dump before you do, so that i you want to go back to the lower firmware, you can without much effort.

you only need to rent grand slam tennis if you dont actually want it, and update then return it.

EDIT: crap. turns out it wasn't 4.0, it was 3.4. So don't bother getting the game, it'll do no good. Sorry if you already went out and bought/rented the game. i had been on 3.3v2, but as it was a really new game, i thought it'd have 4.0, and i only just checked. my brother just told me it updated, not what it updated to.
