Can you upgrade firmware of a softmodded wii?

My Wii is a 4.0u firmware, I want to update it to 4.1 via wiiconnect. Would that affect my homebrew, or mess up my wii? Do I have to redo the softmod procedre over again?

Also, I backed up the nand onto another 1GB sd card with bootmii, but inside the 1GB sd card was nothing except the nand.bin file. How do I make it so that bootmii can start on that 1GB sd card? I'm planning on formatting my other 2GB sd card (it contains the bannerbomb program, homebrew apps folder, the bootmii folder, and these other stuff), would that effect anything if I format it? Like if I would be able to use bootmii again, homebrew channel, and so on?

Copy the "bootmii" folder from your 2 GB to your 1 GB.

You could still use BootMii with your 1 GB SD card and the Homebrew Channel would still work, but you would have to get all your homebrew applications again.
