New Console, Update or No?

Hello, I'm new to this forum and am considering purchasing a new Wii (I foolishly let me ex have my previous one), but I have some questions before I do so. I've never used Homebrew, and from what I've read enabling the Wii Connect 24 service could disable Homebrew functionality. If I buy a new console should I allow it to autoupdate first and then install Homebrew or should I just kill updates all together?

don't update altogether since it'll update to 4.2 which is dangerous, homebrew enabled wii or not. as far as WiiConnect24 goes though, don't worry about turning it off, Nintendo doesn't have an automatic update feature like many people believe they do, so WC24 is actually pretty safe to leave on

What update your on is irrelevent. Nintendo still has yet to successfully disable homebrew.
