Hi all.

Excume my ignorance if i ask something common but i have just installed homebrew channel and i dont know much yet.

What i want to do is to use an external usb hard disk to see my video files

By reading around i saw that i had to install homebrew Channel (done)
Then i installed Hombrew Browser and throuth that i installed MplayerC and a bounce of other apps.
Everything is working quite allright.

Now i would like to use an external usb disk to see my video files.
The problem is that it doesnt seem my usb hard disk to be recognised.

So, is there something special i have to know. Not all usb drives are recognised?
My usb disk is formatted Fat32 but i could change it if needed.
I really tried to find info regarding this subject but i cannot :(

I also used the usb test which doesnt recognise my hard drive either.

My wii was not updated.I think is version 1.31E or something similar.

Thank you 4 reading this.

Regards,
The_Observer.

Most USB drives are supported by MPlayer CE, but not all. In any case, you need to install the USB 2.0 cIOS to play videos from USB drive.

Yes, i am afraid that i forgot to mention that i have already done tath too.

So i will just try with a differnt disk cause if it was something else ,i guess you would have mentioned it.

I was afraid that because i have not update the wii system that this caused the problem...

Thx 4 your help.

I did not know that it worked at all without the cIOS, but it certainly does not work at USB 2.0 speed without it. You didn't install a different cIOS 202 did you?

You can only get USB 1.1 transfer speeds without the cIOS, which is fine for music, I have never tried it for videos, but I thought it would be laggy.

Hi again.

I have tried 3 different external usb hard disk drives.

1 Fat32 and 2 NTFS.

I try to see through them my divx movies as i explained more thorougly above.

No one can be recognized by the wii mplayer ce.

Do you have a suggestion on what i can do or what might be wrong?

Are you connecting the USB drive to the USB port on the right (when facing the back of the wii)? It will not work if you connect the USB drive to the wrong USB port.

Yes i do .

I plug it in the correct port because when i was reading around before i start the whole procedure i found a url to a jpg which was showing to which port i should connect the usb hard disk.

So,
if i uninstall everything Homebrew channel e.t.c. and install again would this had some meaning to do.

Also i used the usb test .rar provided by the mplayer ce site and i have made a dumb.(Yet unsure where to post it )

Finally every other app i have installed in Homebrew channel is working good (e.g. ftp server)

The only thing cannot make happen is my usb disks to be recognized (Damn Murphy's Laws)

Thank you 4 your suggestion.

P.S. I have never upgrade wii since i bought it .Maybe i should upgrade it to latest version and re install everything from scratch?

Well ,

i used another external usb hard drive and is working.
It seems that the previous 3 were not compatible.

Thank you 4 your suggestions.
