Newbie wanting to play DVDs

Hi,

I followed the instructions on how to set up HBC and then downloaded MPlayer CE 0.76 onto my SD card (into a folder named /apps as instructed) but MPlayer would never load. I saw a progress bar and then in a command prompt looking screen mplayerce loading ...... and then the wii halts and I have to hold down the power button to turn off the wii. At the same time I was able to run DragonMedia Player successfully.

I tried putting MPlayer CE 0.75 on the SD card but when I went to the HBC I now find that the wiimote doesn't operate at all. When I press any button the lights start flashing and no pointer appears on the screen.

I tried reformatting the SD and copying the files back on but it made no difference. I also find that without the SD inserted at all the same thing happens so now I'm stuck.

Please can anybody suggest what is going wrong. I have menu 3.1E and installed BootMii with boot2.

Any help greatly appreciated as I'm close to giving up now and just buying a dvd drive (and a 2 into 1 SCART).

Ok, so I did a reconnect on the wiimote and then ran the Hackmii installer again. That got HBC working with the wiimote again. I then tried MPlayer 0.75 which loads but I still can't actually play a dvd. From the menu none of the options do anything. I've now joined in on another thread started by Liight who seems to have the same issue. Seems that people are saying that some wii drives just won't read dvds.
