Getting Wireless ICS to cooperate with the Wii in Ubuntu

Okay. Here's my situation.
I just got charter internet service at my house.
I have a cable modem, with one Ethernet port, and a USB port.
I can also connect my Laptop via USB or Ethernet.
My Wii doesn't have a USB LAN adapter, and I can't get one.
A router is also unobtainable at this time.
Basically, what I wanna do is to connect my Wii to an AdHoc network
from my computer, with the connection from the LAN/USB bridged.
So far, I've set it up using Firestarter to do that,
but I think the Wii recognizes it as an AdHoc, and won't connect.
It actually tells me that it can't find my network when it does the test. (Even though it found the network just fine in the scan.)
I've tried other tutorials, but all of them are for PCs to connect to a shared connection.
I think I need to somehow make my laptop look like a wireless router to the Wii, but how?
Any help is appreciated.
