Hi. I don't know if this is in the right section or what, but here we go...
I got a brand new Wii this Christmas and I've been enjoying it quite a bit thus far. With the Virtual Console I thought it would be perfect to bring just the Wii with my favourite games downloaded on it to college while I can leave the rest of my collection behind. I'll be in a small dorm room so it'll be perfect.
One of the consoles I wanted to leave behind was my beloved Neo Geo AES. I don't trust bringing it into a big city into a small dorm room, and I definitely don't want to lose my copies of Waku Waku 7 or Magical Drop III. Two of my favourite games, but also two very expensive ones.
I noticed that Nintendo decided to keep Waku Waku 7 to Japan only on the Virtual Console, and while Magical Drop III is available in North America, the English version actually cuts out a difficulty setting only available in Japan (Hard mode for the normal game is removed). My Neo Geo, being Japanese, allowed me to access this setting and it's all I play on.
So a few questions!
1) My Wii is v4.3U. Is it safe to install the Homebrew Channel? Could I get pointed to a good tutorial please?
2) Would you recommend AnyRegion Changer?
3) I want to legally buy the games from the Virtual Console and not install an emulator or whatever (my two AES carts were second hand so I figure it would be a good time to support the companies I love). If I buy my points, and switch my region to Japan, could I buy the two games or will my points get reset?
4) Is this legal? I wanted to tie these games to my Club Nintendo account. Is that bad? (I would assume I could use my Club Nintendo account on a Japanese Wii anyways) I also don't want to void my warranty.
5) Neo Geo games are region free, and their language/censorship/features change depending on the language of the system. If I bought the games from the Japanese market, would they turn to English when I switched my Wii back to the North American shop? (If you don't know this one, that's fine. I'll experiment anyways)
I really don't want to do anything illegal, and I don't want to brick my Wii.
Thanks a lot!
