Preventative Measures?

Hi. I've been using the Homebrew Channel for a while now but I'm by no means an expert at it. I need to upgrade to firmware 4.3 to run Metroid: Other M. I realize there are Homebrew Channel installers that will work on 4.3 but my question is, since I've already got the Homebrew Channel running now, are there any preventative measures I can take to avoid having to reinstall? I thought it would save some trouble, since until I run Metroid, I already have low level access to the Wii. Its a PAL Wii, if that makes any difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Provided it is updated to the latest version, it will not be removed. If your Wii is connected to the internet, it'll automatically check for updates when you load HBC, so just load it up and if no prompt appears to update, you have the latest version and can safely update.
