White Wii = boot2 compatible?

I was looking to buy another Wii that is boot2 compatible as my current one is not (Red edition) I looked around but could not really find a clear answer, I was going to look for a cheap used one in those trade in/pawn shops as they sell the older white Wii's really cheap. If I was to buy one of those would I be able to install bootmii as boot2 or is there still a chance is is one of the consoles where that is patched?

If they are not all boot2 compatible is there any way to tell?

Only white wiis manufactured before the middle of 2008 have the unpatched boot1. They're pretty rare and there's no way to tell just by looking at them.

Thank you for the reply, is there no sure way to tell from any serial or other numbers on the bottom of the console as most of them will allow you to inspect the consoles condition? Looking at my Wii now there is no manufacture date that would have helped identify this.

As far as I know, there is no way to tell if a wii has the vulnerability without actually trying to install bootmii. I could be wrong though.
