Couldnt we extract the main.dol out of a Legally owned vc game and repack it with the boot.dol for the homebrew channel

could any body tell me if this is possible

No. The 3.4 installer .dol no longer works on 4.0 Wiis.

oh but could we use this idea just to run single apps like the twilight hack before the homebrew channel came out

How would you install the injected WADs?

no they are not injected wads. this exploit is for 4.0 only and you would copy the vc game to the sd card menu on 4.0 take out the sd card out of the wii put in to your computer extract the files in the content.bin file and replace the main.dol with a homebrew .dol

SD channel? The same way you install normal "wads" from vc legally through the channel

Someone tried (/\) with the HBC, and like I alluded to before, it was an epic fail on virgin 4.0 Wiis. I dont know what would happen with other .dols though.

Nice idea so far though :D I always love this kind of thinking.

Wouldnt it not work at all unless you DIY? You cant run others VC games and stuff on your wii.

Yes, but the exploit likely does not require you to run alien VC games.
The exploitable crash seems to occour just by looking at the channel (hence "bannerbomb")

Please don't share exploit ideas you can't be bothered to even try.
